"Soldier Take Warning"

The illuminating green colors on this painting are a call to warning when a soldier glances over his shoulder to view two girls being shown a green light on top with Black Death crows flying above them. At the second look the two young adults form a shape of a skull and make more sense of the fear in the soldier’s eyes. The leggings are white like teeth for the skull’s teeth and the heads are the eyes. Nothing brings more symbolism to finding freedom than the ocean which to my perspective, the soldier wishes to liberate himself from the war he is fighting, he may feel trapped.

A stride through the forest, what appears as men galloping on horses through the woods near a river, shows more. The artist asks how many faces can you spot on this ordinary wood. His use of camouflaging the faces in the background of the painting with different shades of green and by incorporating naturalistic features such as a river and trees makes it seem even more realistic. The rocks formulate eyes and cheeks on the faces that otherwise would just be merely sitting rocks on the woods.  The trees in the far background demonstrate more faces hidden to the human eye.

Forever Always

Octavio Ocampo is a very creative artist. The painting shown above has several illusions inside and it is necessary to focus in order to careful view them all. A white tequila bottle is seen to the left hand side of the painting and at first glance a yellow vase is seen. A young girl is drawn to the right half of the painting and she is isolated leaning on a stone wall. Very sneaky approach to the illusions is if looked long enough the old man’s head has a man playing a guitar incorporated in it and the older lady has a women seated fixing her straw hat.

Hand Illusion

The Elephant?

The artist of this painting remains unknown, but at first sight it appears to be an elephant. The qualities of the elephant’s skin are rough and wrinkly just like the painting portrays. At a much closer look, a man’s hand is formed and the eye was tricked into believing it was an elephant drawn. It is such a well painted elephant with the eyes appearing so real and even the tusk looks as if it were floating; the different shades of grey going from dark and light emphasize on the lighting angles and creases. The trunk is also forms perfectly on the body of the elephant.

Vincent Van Gogh

Starry Night

This painting by Vincent Van Gogh is very famous for its unique technique in using pastels to create a “starry Night.” Most artists sign their names on the bottom right corner of the artwork, but this artist is particularly different.  Van Gogh signed his name by using his fingerprint as a signature on the top right bright yellow star. I find this painting very interesting because of its twirls and use of dark colors. It is believed by most critics that Van Gogh would express his life in his paintings which is why they are mostly odd and very isolated.
